Premier League club West Ham United are still favorites to sign Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu.
According to Dutch online news site Voetbal Primär, Genk wants to pay a new club record transfer amount for the striker.
Although talks have been ongoing for some time, no deal has yet been reached. Onuachu is currently back in pre-season training with Genk.
Genk’s Saturday clash against Club Brugge in the Belgian Super Cup is expected to see the Nigerian international.
After selling Sebastien Haller in January to Eredivisie champions Ajax, West Ham United is looking for a new striker.
Onuachu scored 35 times in 41 games across all competitions for Smurfs.
The Nigerian international has been linked to Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion.
