Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Niger, has announced that it will deploy 717 personnel to ensure traffic flow during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
In a Friday morning press release, Mr. Musa Mohammed, the state’s Sector Commander, made this disclosure to NaijaNGR.
Mohammed stated that 540 special marshals would be on duty 24 hours a day to patrol the highways.
To ensure smooth traffic flow across the state, he said that the command would deploy 20 operations vehicles, three ambulances and three motorcycles.
“The command will conduct special patrols on Minna Bida-Mokwa’s Suleja-Minna Lambata-Agwai and Minna Zungeru-Tegina roads.
“The staff are expected to supervise drivers and ensure safe driving, while adhering to traffic rules and regulations.
He stated that “we have sufficient personnel in the metropolitan area and on all major highways to stop reckless drivers”
Sector commanders advised motorists not to make phone calls while driving and to avoid overloading. He also urged parents/guardians to prevent underage children from being on the roads.
The state’s Police Command also pledged to ensure security during Eid el-Kabir celebrations.
DSP Wasiu Abiodun (command’s Public Relations Officer) disclosed the information in Minna, Friday.
Abiodun stated that officers who were deployed to secure the designated prayer grounds have been given an operational order to ensure security.
Abiodun stated that sufficient armed personnel had been mobilized to ensure security during, and after, the festive season.
He stated that residents would be able to enjoy the festivities in peace if security measures were in place.
He stated that the police and other security services in the state were working together to ensure the safety of the festivities.
